Inside innovation#2: Developing an innovation strategy for the water sector

Join the second event for WWT’s new webinar series Inside Innovation to hear Steve Kaye, the chief executive of UKWIR and Andrea Gysin, head of research, development & innovation at Thames Water. They will talk about plans for a new cross-sector innovation strategy being developed by UKWIR and water companies as part of the sector’s commitment to a new £200m innovation fund in AMP7.

We continue in WWTs Inside Innovation series in which editors will interview a range of senior managers and directors responsible for innovation and technology uptake in UK water companies to get an inside perspective on some of the pioneering projects aiming to transform the ability of the sector to meet its grand challenges.

In this second event Steve Kaye, the chief executive of UKWIR and Andrea Gysin, head of research, development & innovation at Thames Water will talk about the development of a sector-wide strategy for innovation, which Ofwat has called for to steer the priorities and activities of the £200m research competition launched for AMP7. UKWIR has brought together representatives from 19 water companies in the UK and Ireland and appointed Arup to coordinate the development of a draft strategy by the end of June.

In this webinar our speakers will reveal more about these activities, and give their views on the benefits they expect the new fund to bring, and the challenges the industry faces and it looks to tackle the ambitious goal of transforming the sector.

UKWIR is planning a variety of engagements with stakeholders to inform the thinking through the development of the draft strategy so this represents an excellent opportunity to hear more about this exciting initiative.
