Celebrity line up at Northumbrian Water's Innovation Festival

A number of celebrities and big names are set to join Northumbrian Water's global Innovation Festival 2020.

Northumbrian Water is gearing up to host its first ever virtual event, which kicks off next month, following three, hugely successful physical events over the past few years.

In the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, the move online has paved the way for more celebrities to join thousands of innovative thinkers at the annual event, taking place 14-17 September.

Wayne Hemingway, international fashion designer and founder of Red or Dead, will be taking part in a question and answer discussion hosted by former BBC Breakfast presenter, Steph McGovern, looking at his work creating affordable new build housing schemes and the impactful regeneration projects he has worked on.

Festivalgoers will also be able to hear from mathematician and TV presenter Dr Hannah Fry during a fun session on game theory and how organisations can use it as an approach to help fuel innovation.

The aim of the Innovation Festival is to explore new ideas and new ways of thinking over four-action packed days, to come up with solutions to help enhance the company’s services, improve society and the impact on the environment.

A host of other big names from the world of science and innovation will also join the festival. They include:

  • Cognitive neuroscientist, Araceli Camargo, co-founder of The Centric Lab
  • Chris Beswick, entrepreneur and bestselling author
  • Actor, writer and comedian, Neil Mullarkey
  • Founder of Disruptive HR and inspirational speaker, Lucy Adams
  • The North East’s very own Paralympic legend, Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson
  • Plus many more

Northumbrian Water’s director of information services Nigel Watson said: “Festivalgoers are in for a treat with the big celebrity line up at this year’s Innovation Festival.

“They’re all experts in their field and they’ll be giving motivational talks, speaking with attendees and really helping the problem solvers along. We’re so lucky to have these inspirational people join us and we can’t wait to get started.”

To be part of the Innovation Festival 2020 and to get the chance to speak with and hear from some of this year’s big names, people must be registered.
