SGS Academy Runs Training Course On The New EU Timber REGULATIONS (EU 995/2010)
SGS is set to run a series of one day training courses on the requirements of the new European Union Timber Regulation (EUTR).
The regulation applies across all 27 European Union Member States and sets out mandatory obligations for organisations and individuals that place timber and timber products on the European Market for the first time.
The course will provide an understanding of the implications of the Regulation and its likely impact on day-to-day activities. The course will be of particular interest to those who trade timber and wood products within the EU and who must put in place a due diligence system in order to minimise the risk of illegal timber being sold. Due diligence requirements will apply to every timber and wood based product traded (except those not covered by the Regulation)
The one-day course will cover articles in the regulation relating to operators (the organisations or individuals responsible for placing timber on the European market), due diligence systems requirements (including mechanisms for gathering information, conducting risk assessments and mitigating risk), and the role of chain of custody and third party verification schemes.
Courses will run throughout the UK at seven locations from 19 September to 13 December and will provide information, in practical terms, on what actions individuals or organisations need to take in order to be compliant by the time the Regulation becomes law in March 2013. Email UK.email@example.com for details. For more information about the EUTR please download our complimentary White Paper www.sgs.co.uk/eutimberregs
