Integration is key to new InfoWorks WS version 7.5
Wallingford UK : 23 May 2006 : Wallingford Software announces today that InfoWorks WS v7.5, scheduled for release next quarter, will contain many exciting new additions to the leading water network management solution.
The release is part of the regular schedule of twice yearly updates of Wallingford Software's entire frontline product portfolio.
One of the most important new features is the further integration of InfoWorks WS and InfoNet, which provides a complete link between asset management and the hydraulic modeling platform. In many cases, existing data in a hydraulic model will be the best engineering database that a utility has, and with the new feature it is possible to import hydraulic model data into InfoNet so that it can become part of the asset management database. Hydraulic models can also be built semi-automatically and updated from the InfoNet asset management database.
This feature enables users to open an asset database in InfoWorks WS, and to open InfoWorks WS while using InfoNet, and move data between the two solutions, as well as providing a means to automatically update both from data in the other solution.
User programmable controls (UPCs) - a method of specifying the operation of pumps and valves according to network conditions or time of day - have also been significantly enhanced in the latest version of InfoWorks WS. This powerful development enables users to write UPCs through a new scripting method, and to edit pump and valve data. There is also a valve optimizer, similar to the existing pump optimizer capability.
InfoWorks WS contains numerous demand analysis features. Customer points now have a parent-child hierarchy so that if, for instance, the solution involves a high-rise building with multiple meters to one pipe the master connection will represent the building and the child connection the individual apartments.
Dr Saa Tomić, Wallingford Software's Senior Vice President, Global Product Management, says: 'Other important new features include new ways to create generic pump curves, and a live data dialog that allows quality flags to be assigned to live data such as SCADA information. Another key development allows users to define an alternative set of demand values for a network without altering the network itself. This functionality allows different demand scenarios to be modeled without having to create a new network for each demand set.
'These significant enhancements to the InfoWorks WS solution will provide clients with an even more flexible, powerful and productive environment for their network modeling requirements.'
