Enhanced support leads latest InfoWorks release

InfoWorks version 6.5, released today, extends support for ArcGIS as part of major extensions to all modules.

The latest release of Wallingford Software's InfoWorks, Version 6.5, offers extended features in all three modules - water supply, collection systems, and river systems. The update, released on schedule to meet the company's twice-yearly update commitment, demonstrates that each new release contains major increases in functionality across all elements of the software. In addition, across the product the links with ArcGIS are enhanced, demonstrating the continued commitment to maintaining powerful links with leading GIS products ArcGIS, MapInfo and Autodesk.

InfoWorks CS now provides much greater support for users investigating SUDS (sustainable urban development) developments, also known as BMP (best management practice). The support for this type of development is timely ? sustainable practices are increasingly a requirement in new collection system projects around the world.

InfoWorks WS boasts extensive new function in its water quality capabilities. The path and concentration of externally introduced substances can be traced from reservoir through the entire distribution network. This is applicable to both standard substances such as chlorine, and any malign introductions that are the subject of much security analysis at present.

InfoWorks RS extends its capability in river conveyance analysis, with much more detailed specification of roughness factors to examine conveyance, even allowing time varying roughness to model seasonal changes in vegetation. Covering both river sections and flood plains, there is the option to use photographic support to identify roughness.
