Novelis Recycling

Novelis is the global leader in the manufacture of aluminium rolled products and the world's largest recycler of aluminium, recycling around 42 billion used drink cans annually. In the UK, Novelis purchases used aluminium beverage cans for recycling, working with waste management companies, local authorities, scrap metal merchants, community groups and entrepreneurs, helping them to maximize the potential of the valuable aluminium they collect. Novelis pays competitive prices for good quality used aluminium cans as well as providing a network of local delivery points, called Aggregation Centres. Other reasons to work with Novelis in the UK include prompt payment terms, marketing support and a field based team of Metal Buyers who can offer ongoing help and support to suppliers. Novelis' UK plant was recently independently certified to produce the aluminium sheet for the Novelis evercan™ which is made from 90% recycled content, providing beverage owners and can fillers with the opportunity to package their drinks in a high recycled content, low carbon footprint can. Novelis is also the leading global supplier of aluminium sheet to the automotive sector. In the UK we are working with Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) to recycle the waste aluminium from its manufacturing plants. After reprocessing Novelis supplies the recycled aluminium back to JLR to be used in the production of aluminium content cars.

Novelis Leads Global Effort to Increase Closed-Loop Recycling and Reduce Carbon

As the year draws to a close, we are delighted to publish our 2014 Sustainability Report, which shows solid progress towards our business and sustainability objectives, even in the face of some significant market challenges.

The scale and pace of change and expansion underway in our company remains unprecedented - and yet our execution remains superb, which is a testament to the talented, committed and hardworking Novelis employees around the world. Building on our long-time partnerships with Jaguar Land Rover, we continued to work with all of our automotive customers to implement closed-loop manufacturing processes in which we take back their production scrap, re-melt it, cast it and roll it again. And we advanced our efforts to take the closed-loop model even further by developing new, more easily recycled alloys - and by leveraging higher-recycled-content materials - in automotive applications.

2014 also marked the commercial debut of evercan™ - the world's first independently certified, high-recycled-content aluminium beverage can sheet. The product is a technical breakthrough and represents a huge step forward in enabling aluminium to realize its full sustainability potential. We remain focused on closing the gap to our ultimate goal of creating a 100% recycled content aluminium beverage can.

During the year, we also expanded recycling capacity in all of our operating regions - including putting the finishing touches on our new recycling centre in Nachterstedt, Germany, commissioned in June 2014. The new facility will be the world's largest and most advanced aluminium recycling centre - and it will firmly solidify Novelis' position as the largest recycler of aluminium in the world.

We are firmly convinced that the transformation Novelis is leading is what society wants - and what the planet and the global economy need - and that it will be the key driver of our company's long-term success.
