Taking Control of your Energy Future

With energy costs representing one of the largest controllable expenditures, LASER is helping its membership of 120 public, voluntary and charity organisations to manage their budgets and introduce energy efficiencies.

As the largest energy-buying group in the South East, LASER was formed in 1989 to purchase energy on behalf of local authorities and other publicly funded bodies. Our members now include schools, universities, voluntary organisations, charities and housing associations.

Collectively, we manage a basket of energy contracts worth in excess of £430 million per year, but our service also includes our unique energy management system, energy audits and advice on introducing low cost energy efficiency measures. We source grant funding and manage the installation of renewable energy projects and we are currently advising clients on appropriate LED lighting replacement programmes.

LASER is committed to the sustainable consumption of energy from secure sources and we are one of the UK's largest purchasers of renewable energy. Our green electricity purchases currently reduce our members' CO2 emissions by around 140,000 tonnes per annum.

Rob Morgan Director of Energy at Laser says: "rising energy costs in a shrinking economic climate is one of this country's major concerns, but our members are already benefitting from the savings achieved through collectively purchasing energy and our effective management system. This is a market that operates on economies of scale, so additional members mean more savings. If you are a local authority, charity or voluntary organisation visit our stand M20, our web site www.laserenergy.org.uk or contact us by email (Filippo.Bellavia@kent.gov.uk) to find out how we can help you to take control of your energy future."
