There is no doubt that the impact commercial industry has on the environment is dominating legal, political and socio- economic policies and frameworks. Increasingly businesses need to review their own business models to ensure they
meet stringent legislative and ethical demands while retaining their ability to remain competitive. Sitting at the heart of the exhibitions the features programmes will provide an important opportunity to forward debate;
showcase both cutting edge technologies and the latest services whilst exploring the practical impact and implementation issues of recent legislation and directives. All seminars must be educational in nature but will allow you to tell your company's success stories...

If you are interested in applying for a slot:

· Download a seminar application form from www.sustainabilitylive.com, search for
seminar

· Complete the application form, providing as much detail as possible

· Fax back to +44 (0)20 8651 7144

Keep up to date with edie.net

www.edie.net provides you with up to the minute news relevant to your sector. Outlined below are a few of the current stories...

Action on climate will help, not hurt economy

Acting now to curb greenhouse gas emissions will cost the world considerably less than paying the price of uncontrolled climate change later, the world's first major assessment of the economics of global warming has found. Climate change will hit developing countries hardest through drought, falling crop yields and depleted fish stocks. A central message of the long-awaited Stern Report is that radical action to cut carbon emissions now will preserve rather than undermine economic growth in the future, preventing a major drop in living standards worldwide.

Debate over climate law heats up

Opposition leader David Cameron has called for binding annual carbon cut targets, as the debate over a climate change law for the UK intensified this week.

Calls for a climate bill came ahead of results from the Stern Review of the economics of climate change.

With opposition backing a climate change bill and reports that it is to be included in the Queen's speech on November 15th, discussion has moved on from whether a law should be introduced onto what it should look like in practice. Environmental groups want binding year-on-year targets, and have now been joined by the Conservatives who call for "proper legislation, not a watered-down measure that fails to set annual targets."

Trade unions urge deep greenhouse gas cuts

Europe's trade unions have called for greenhouse gas cut targets of 75% by 2050, which they say will minimise future impacts of climate change on workers as long as social aspects are factored into policy.

Public transport is one of the sectors where climate change will mean new jobs. In anticipation of an EU green paper on climate change adaptation, expected by the end of the year, the European Trade Union Congress (ETUC) urged ambitious greenhouse gas cut targets of 25% by 2020 and 75% by 2050.
