Sugarich improve operational efficiency and make cost savings with new Multilift Trailer from King
News release: Leading animal feed ingredient processor, SugaRich Limited, is experiencing significant cost and operational benefits since acquiring a new tri-axle skeletal trailer fitted with a unique Partek Multilift loading and unloading system from King Trailers.
SugaRich, part of ABNA (Associated British Nutrition and Agri Products), the UK's largest agri-business, specified the trailer to augment its existing transport fleet to undertake collections of surplus bakery product for the company's processing plant in Bromsgrove, Worcestershire.
The new vehicle is unusual in that it can be fitted with two interchangeable containers of 6 metres or 7.5 metres in length - the first time Partek has supplied a container of over 6 metres to a company in the UK. The trailer chassis supplied by King has also been manufactured to a bespoke specification so that the hydraulically operated Multilift hook system can be fitted inside the trailer frame which provides the added benefit of keeping the overall vehicle height to the absolute minimum.
Used for both exchanging containers and emptying content, the hooklift system provides a tipping angle of 50 degrees and a maximum lifting capacity of 25 tonnes. It is also extremely easy to operate with simple, clearly marked controls that facilitate slow speed operation as well as standard speed to enable the precision positioning of the hookarm when picking up containers.
Ken Hardgrave responsible for fleet management for SugaRich comments: "We are delighted with the new trailer. Having the interchangeable bins means we now have far greater flexibility. For example, as well as the new trailer we can also use the 6 metre bin on our rigid trucks and the larger container is particularly useful as it enables us to transport product which would normally be too dense and heavy for our other vehicles to cope with. Also, the bigger bin provides us with the added benefit of being able to carry much more product in fewer journeys, which in turn saves on time, fuel costs, reduces exhaust emissions and increases productivity.
"We were very impressed with the service provided by King and Partek" adds Ken Hardgrave, "who together combined their extensive engineering expertise and worked closely with us to ensure we were provided with a high performing vehicle that meets our exact operational requirements."
