Atkins 'Having the Best Reputation in Contaminated Land'

"It is very rewarding that our efforts have been recognised once again by customers and consultants alike" says Steve Pearmain, Head of Atkins Contaminated Land Solutions on hearing that Atkins has once again been voted as "Having the Best Reputation in Contaminated Land" in the EDIE 2006 consultancy survey.

"We pride ourselves on promoting an empowering culture that encourages innovation and excellence in the delivery of our clients' objectives and it is particularly satisfying to see that our customers feel that our philosophy delivers the results!

Consultancy is essentially a people business and we would not have retained this award without the efforts of all of our staff and their desire to excel in all they do. We pride ourselves on our willingness to develop and introduce new tools to the market such as ATRISKsoil and CAT-WASTEsoil, on-line tools used to assess potential human health risks from soils and classify waste and excess soil arisings respectively. The success of these tools is demonstrated by the fact that subscribers currently include consultancies, contractors, regulators, research institutions and waste operators and the list is expected to grow now that ATRISK has been rolled out to the private sector.

We have also recently complemented these with the introduction of a comprehensive set of contaminated land training courses, covering in detail each phase of the brownfield assessment and remediation process.

The challenge now is to build on our success and continue to raise the bar in all that we do. After all, as the Americans are fond of saying....if you snooze you lose!"
