MSE Hiller Limited
MSE Hiller Ltd, Mobile and Separation Equipment (M&SE) specialise in the rental and sales of dewatering centrifuges into environmental applications within the water treatment and process industries. Effluents and sludges may be dewatered or thickened by use of either fixed or temporary installed mobile dewatering plants. Trial units are available for on site testing of applications and unit capacities range from 1 to 105 m3 per hour. The MSE Hiller range of decanter type centrifuges offer high performance sludge dewatering and thickening and there are over 5,600 units installed Worldwide. The centrifuges can be supplied with either hydraulic or electrical regenerative back drive capability for automatically adjusting the scroll speed to suit the solids loading of the feed. The hire service is available with or without process operatives and can be used for on site lagoon and pond clearances, digestor cleaning, seasonal peak loads/breakdown coverage etc. Mitsubishi rayon membrane systems can be offered for high efficiency separation and cleaning of effluents offering water re-use options to customers. A Catalyst For Centrifuge Change
Decapress conquers the problem of dense solids separation
Following an extensive comparison of the separation technologies available on the market and a competitive study of centrifuges; the catalyst manufacturer Johnson Matthey decided to install a Hiller Decapress centrifuge for the recovery and dewatering of catalyst fines at it's state of the art production facility in Cambridge England.
The DP31-422NSHY-316 model of Decapress was initially delivered to site as a skid mounted unit complete with starter panel and feed pump and pretty soon it was clear that batch cycle times could be reduced by some 60% due to the Hiller centrifuges unique hydraulic scroll drive system with remote mounted EMR5000 controller.
This control system automatically monitors the scrolling torque which is directly proportional to the solids content of the feed and continuously optimises process performance by adjusting the differential speed to suit.
The Hiller Decapress combined with it's new control system has the ability to separate Solids from Water and will be of particular interest to companies which process wastes and sludges such as the Chemical industry, food factories, AD Digestion facilities, vegetable oil processors, pharmaceutical, abattoirs etc.
The volume reduction in dewatering the sludge from a feed of 2% dry solids to a cake at 40 - 50% dry solids is in excess of 90% and led to significant savings by reducing wastes and potential re-use of the material.
Recovery rates of 99% are common.
Capacity of the trial machine is 3 - 10 m3/hr while other models in the range are capable of processing up to 70 m3/hr.
