Introducing the Escalator Plus from Longwood Engineering, the Market Leader in Fine Screens.

Seventeen years after the launch of their pioneering Escalator Screen in 1993, Longwood Engineering is delighted to introduce the Escalator Plus.

Since that time the company has manufactured and installed over 1200 Escalators throughout the UK and it is a real testament to the success of the original model that it has taken until now to launch version 2.

The new Escalator Plus has been thoroughly tested at the National Screen Evaluation Facility at Chester Le Street, where a vastly improved, and unprecedented, average Screens Capture Ratio of 79% was achieved.

As a company, Longwood Engineering has always been absolutely committed to a programme of continual improvement with regard to product development, but because the Escalator Screen has proved so efficient and customer feedback extremely positive, it has been somewhat of a challenge to find ways of improving the original.

However, working closely with customers to help them meet the demands of government legislation, that challenge has now been overcome and the Escalator Plus will launch with a set of new key features and benefits, including a unique self-adjusting brush and split driving sockets, specifically designed to effectively improve maintainability and capture ratio, while reducing whole life costs.

The new features will be incorporated into all new Escalator Screens as standard. Any existing Escalator installation can have the self-adjusting brush retrofitted on site to reduce maintenance and operator intervention, provide cleaner screens, and consequently reduce downtime caused by blockages in the downstream process.

Says Jeff Pierson, Sales Manager for Longwood Engineering: "We are extremely pleased with the results of the tests at Chester Le Street which have far exceeded our expectations. This result firmly establishes Longwood Engineering as the Market Leader in Fine Screens Technology.

The Escalator Plus is the result of working collaboratively with all of our customers to find ways of effectively improving on the original Escalator Screen in order to bring about real tangible benefits to the Water Utilities industry that will reduce their operating costs. A reduction in maintenance and operator intervention, cleaner screens, reduced downtime caused by blockages in the downstream process and improved flow to the works are just some of the benefits brought about by the Escalator Plus."
