Isodaq Technology designs and manufactures data loggers and telemetry systems for monitoring water and the environment at remote sites. Our award winning GPRS data loggers have been supplied to drainage authorities, water companies and governmental rivers and environmental regulators for applications including rainfall loggers, water-level logger systems and flood warning systems. We also specialise in providing turnkey hydrometric monitoring systems; our real-time flow measurement and water quality monitoring systems are also used for industrial applications to comply with UK EPR and MCERTS regulations.

Environment Agency training during the floods

The floods this summer provided an endless amount of media coverage but not all the news was bad.

Local consultants to the water and environmental industries, Hydro-Logic Limited (based in Bromyard), held a training course for the Environment Agency at Knightsford Bridge in Worcestershire.

Part of the course involved the thirteen delegates gauging the flow of the River Teme and thanks to the floods, the flow measured in June was the highest recorded during the summer; not only for Hydro-Logic but at that particular site since the Environment Agency has been recording it since 1970.

The actual flow rate measured was 220 cumecs whereas the average rate for June 2006 was 7.41 cumecs.

The River Teme is routinely gauged by the Environment Agency; the weir was built in 2003 to enable low flow measurement.

Over the last three years, the Environment Agency and Hydro-Logic have carried out a ChannelMaster R&D project at the site. The project has allowed an evaluation of the continuous flow monitoring technology and the index velocity rating method.
