Invitation to Tender - Plasterboard and Gypsum Waste Demonstration Projects 2005/06

WRAP (The Waste & Resource Action Programme) is a major Government programme established to accelerate resource efficiency by creating stable and efficient markets for recycled materials and products and removing barriers to waste minimisation, re-use and recycling.

WRAP has recently started a new Plasterboard Programme and wishes to initiate demonstration projects to illustrate how the barriers to collecting and segregating plasterboard & gypsum waste, generated from construction & demolition sites, can be overcome.

WRAP wishes to undertake this work ultimately to stimulate market development for reprocessed plasterboard and gypsum waste. Recent changes in Waste Acceptance Criteria - effective from 16th July 2005 - will provide strong incentives to segregate plasterboard and gypsum waste, thus diverting it from landfill.

Although some sites are already implementing collection schemes, others find it difficult due to limitations on space and/or resources. There is hence a need to showcase 'best practice' examples for a variety of site locations e.g. city centre sites, remote rural developments etc.

Therefore, WRAP is seeking proposals for demonstration projects in the following area:

PBD7-001: Demonstration Projects that illustrate how the barriers to collecting and segregating plasterboard & gypsum waste, generated from construction & demolition sites, can be overcome.

A full Tender Invitation Document (TID) can be obtained from the WRAP website (www.wrap.org.uk) or by written request, quoting project number PBD7-001 to:-

Closing date for tender submissions:

12.30pm on Monday 7th November 2005
