Environmental consultancy ADAS has been chosen as an accredited Silver Consultancy Partner to the Carbon Disclosure Project for a second year
For a second year running, ADAS has been made a UK Silver Consultancy Partner to the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), a not-for-profit organisation working to drive greenhouse gas emissions reduction and sustainable water use by business and cities.
CDP accepts a limited number of partners to join their consultancy programme each year, reflecting a successful year for ADAS in 2011 as a partner, and ADAS's continuing excellent track record in carbon management.
"CDP is delighted to renew our consultancy partnership with ADAS in the UK" said Paul Robins, Head of Corporate Partnerships at CDP. "ADAS's expertise and quality in providing carbon and water footprinting and the delivery of mitigation advice throughout the supply chain makes them a much valued consultancy partner."
CDP reaches far beyond measurement and target setting; they ask companies to produce robust carbon management plans to achieve real carbon savings. ADAS has continually demonstrated achievement in this area both for clients and within their own organisation, creating leaders across industry. ADAS has been helping clients, such as PepsiCo, reduce both carbon emissions and water use in their supply chains using carbon management plans, and has facilitated the sharing of best practice amongst farmers.
ADAS encourages companies to disclose to CDP, and also to consider their environmental strategies and sustainability for the future. ADAS understands that while carbon management is a good place to start, it is just one part of the jigsaw in making a company more sustainable.
ADAS is a provider for CDP's Response Check service; a check for completeness of a response prior to final submission to CDP. ADAS is the obvious choice for this due to their expertise in carbon management, working with clients across a range of industries, as well as their experience in reporting internally.
As an example activity of the partnership, late in 2011 ADAS ran a successful Breakfast Meeting at the Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufacturers and Commerce (RSA) in Central London: 'Big Opportunities from Small Carbon Emissions'.
The meeting was well attended by large corporations across the food, construction and utilities industries and CDP's Program Director, Frances Way, was a guest speaker. ADAS speakers addressed measurement of Scope 3 emissions, the economics benefits of carbon footprinting, behaviour change and water impacts management. Further breakfast meetings are planned on related topics.
In 2012 ADAS will continue to work with businesses, while also refining their own carbon management, including running workshops for their own suppliers, to share best practice.
Dr Jeremy Wiltshire commented, "Organisations such as CDP and ADAS are working hard to show how sustainable development can have business benefits. The commercial drive to reduce environmental impacts is gaining momentum and there is increasing interest in assessment and management of greenhouse gas emissions. ADAS works hard to minimise impacts of its own activities, but more importantly, influences mitigation of emissions much more widely through work for clients, saving them money at the same time."
ADAS is pleased to announce that Dr Jeremy Wiltshire, ADAS Head of Carbon Management, has recently been awarded the role of Technical Author for the new Publicly Available Specification (PAS) 2070, a specification for assessments of consumption-based greenhouse gas emissions in cities.
