npower to energise water conference with innovation insights

Water industry professionals are set to benefit from a workshop on innovation delivered by energy supplier npower at the 2013 Water Industry Innovation Conference on 22 March.

The talk, from npower's head of innovation and partnerships, Jon Davies, will draw on lessons from the energy industry to offer water industry professionals an insight into how to best use innovation to address changing customer needs. The session will also explore how npower works in partnership with business customers to develop innovative products and services to address their energy needs. It will provide take away lessons for water industry professionals to apply to their own customers.

As well as delivering the workshop in the morning session at the conference, Jon Davies will also take part in a live panel debate on the role of regulation in driving innovation. His insight from the energy industry, which is continually aiming to drive innovation against the backdrop of regulatory changes, will offer an alternative viewpoint.

Jon Davies said: "There are a lot of synergies between the energy and water industries and I feel there is a big opportunity to share learnings between them. At the Water Industry Innovation Conference, I'll be exploring the different ways npower looks to innovate to meet the needs of an ever-changing energy market. This means listening to businesses and developing innovative solutions covering everything from energy risk management to energy efficiency. As different kinds of businesses have different energy goals, I will also explore the importance of creating tailored solutions for specific sectors, including large industrial and commercial organisations, medium sized businesses and SMEs.

"The on-stage panel debate will also be an ideal forum to discuss the role regulation plays in facilitating innovation. For example, climate change legislation is having a profound effect on how businesses can buy and use energy effectively. I hope that taking part in this event will help maximise lessons taken from the energy industry for everyone's benefit."

npower was the first energy supplier to bring flexible purchasing products to the UK electricity market and has gone on to win a number of product innovation awards since then. As such, delegates at the event will be able draw on a wealth of experience of putting customer needs at the heart of strategic development within a competitive marketplace.

npower is an official Bronze sponsor of the 2013 Water Industry Innovation Conference, which brings together water industry professionals looking to improve efficiencies and learn from the experiences of other industries in facilitating innovation.
