Valve Operating Equipment

Occasionally valves are installed in inaccessible areas such as below floors, at height, within a dangerous environment or even submerged. To allow efficient operation of remotely positioned valves operating equipment is employed to bring the valve operator to a safe ergonomic position. T-T Flow fabricates bespoke site-specific stem/spindle extensions and associated equipment to suit a variety of valve types, in a range of materials from carbon steel to Duplex stainless steel.

Our Engineers are on hand to discuss your requirements ahead of manufacture to ensure optimal configuration. Consideration is given to avoid unnecessary forces or bending moments, which can be applied directly to the valve, negating premature wear and possible valve damage. Correct operating equipment can extend the lifespan of the valves.


Stem/spindle extensions can be customised to suit a wide range of applications. Our standard offering comprises of is a one-piece extension terminating in a male and female coupling to suit valve caps defined in BS5163, however, bespoke couplings can be machined to accept many valve stem/spindle terminations. Intermediate couplings are utilised on longer sectional extensions and gaitered universal joints to accommodate offsets.

Complementary durable pedestals with optional indicators can be adapted to accept various valve operators such as a handwheel, powered actuator, manual gearbox, locking device and even switching options. The addition of a position indicator can visually display whether a valve is open or closed.
