MEL Secure Mobile Plant Licence for thermal treatment system

MEL Limited have been issued a Mobile Plant Licence by the Environment Agency for the operation of the M1-12 Low Temperature Thermal Desorption System.

The M1-12 system uses infra-red heating technology to heat the contaminated soils. This method is significantly more efficient than a conventional rotary kiln system thus providing lower treatment costs.

A major advantage of the M1-12 system is that it operates on a batch cycle, making it commercially viable for the treatment of small volume sites. Typically sites with 500m³ of soil or more are suitable for the use of this technology.

Unlike other thermal treatment systems the M1-12 has low mobilisation and set up costs. It is easy to operate and has few moving parts, thus less maintenance and operational costs.

The system has been trialled extensively in the UK on a variety of contaminated materials including high moisture content oil contaminated sludge's. In all cases it has been proved to be robust, reliable and cost effective.
