Help shape a sustainable future for the water sector

Organisations in the water sector looking to find innovative answers to their strategic business research challenges are invited to attend a project sponsorship workshop hosted by the STREAM Industrial Doctorate Centre, a specialist research Centre for the water sector bringing together expertise from five leading UK universities.

The workshop, to be held in London on 20th January 2010, provides opportunities for potential sponsors to identify common interests and discuss project ideas with researchers from the five STREAM universities - Cranfield, Exeter, Newcastle, Sheffield and Imperial College London.

Focused on strategic research challenges facing the water sector, projects are partially funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council with industrial sponsors or co-sponsors supplying both the research challenge and additional financial support. Funded projects are undertaken by STREAM Research Engineers registered for a four year Engineering Doctorate at one of the five collaborating universities.

Projects can fall within a wide range of topic and disciplinary areas. The only requirement is that sponsored projects apply innovative science and engineering to address an issue of strategic importance to the sector and have the potential to deliver a step change in the sector's ability to respond to emerging challenges.

The workshop will be held at 170 Queen's Gate, London. Places are limited, so if you are a potential sponsor and would like to help shape the research that will influence the future of the water sector, please register your interest by email with Angela Frederick (a.frederick@imperial.ac.uk).

More details of the STREAM programme and the advantages of sponsoring projects are available at www.stream-idc.net/sponsors.htm

If you'd like to talk to someone about the STREAM programme or about project sponsorship, please contact the STREAM programme manager Dr. Paul Jeffrey (p.j.jeffrey@cranfield.ac.uk)
