WPL Achieves High Standards

Since the introduction of the Code for Sustainable Homes, demand from housebuilders and developers has been growing for water efficient products as minimum mandatory levels now apply for both the public and private housing sectors.

With this in mind, WPL has extended its RainRetain rainwater harvesting range to include a Developer's System which has a choice of direct feed and gravity feed with header tank, depending on the property. Rainwater harvesting can achieve great savings on water consumption, by up to 50%, reducing the mains water consumption in the home to approximately 80 litres per person, per day.

Developers are already aware that all new public sector housing must achieve a minimum rating of Code level 4, rising to Code level 6 by 2013. Furthermore, by 2016 the aim is for total Zero Carbon Sustainable Construction for all new homes in both the public and private sectors.

By using RainRetain, developers are already putting sustainable development into practice and achieving high standards for water efficiency, which in turn contributes to the overall sustainability of a new home.

The range also includes a Premium system for home or garden including a specifically designed tank for areas in a high water table, and comes in a wide range of sizes from 2700 litres to 13000 litres.

As well as replacing mains water use, rainwater harvesting can also contribute to reducing surface water run-off, again another issue currently facing developers.
