Enviro Technology highlights that CEMS needn't cost the earth
Companies that use CEMS (Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems) can now access a system from Enviro Technology Services Plc that won't cost the earth in terms of its energy consumption.
The company, which is a world class supplier and leading UK exporter of air pollution monitoring systems, provide the Opsis cross stack CEM system which dramatically reduces kilowatt hours.
The Opsis system is placed in-situ, whereas most other systems use hot extraction. A typical heated extractive system, with 15 metres of sample line, uses in total 6-7kw electrical energy or 50.000 to 60.000 kwh per year. The Opsis cross stack system uses less than a third of this power consumption.
Enviro Technology's CEMS Sales Manager, Jim Budd says: "A major operational cost of a CEM system is the energy consumed. Extractive systems need a lot of energy to heat probes, sample lines, sample conditioning and measurement cells.
Also analyser pumps, chillers, condensers and air conditioning units consume a lot of power. Added up of the course of a year, or the lifetime of a CEM system, these costs can be very high indeed and consequently have a negative impact on the environment. Clients often overlook these running costs.
This needn't be the case for CEM systems as the Opsis cross stack system reduces energy consumption and is therefore more cost effective in the long run resulting in real, tangible savings which can amount to many thousands of pounds.
We are all looking for ways in which we can reduce the amount of energy consumed by products and this is one way that won't cost the earth."
The cost savings to use an Opsis system compared to a heated extractive system is more than 40.000kwh.
