Halcrow has extensive international experience of the resolution of all forms of geo-environmental constraint. We integrate civil and infrastructure expertise with specialist geo-environmental skills, bringing enhanced value to every stage of a project. Halcrow's environmental staff have developed a corporate approach to environmental management and provides professional support to project managers both internally throughout Halcrow and externally to ensure that projects are delivered with a high level of environmental awareness in accordance with our environmental policy. We recognise that construction activities can impact the environment and we are focussed on understanding and managing this in order to improve our environmental performance. Our approach has earned us ISO14001:2004 certification for our environmental management system and covers all of our engineering activities at all of our UK office locations. We have also achieved registration under the European Union's Eco Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS), which formally recognises our environmental commitment and accountability. We are committed to being held publicly accountable for our environmental performance and publish an annual, externally verified, corporate environmental statement. We work collaboratively with our clients, other members of project teams and external stakeholders to deliver geo-environmental objectives which are: innovative and practical optimised and economical environmentally sustainable These objectives are achieved through the knowledge and worldwide experience of over 250 geo-environmental engineers and scientists assisted by state-of-the-art systems and techniques. Our staff are based at diverse locations, ensuring that they can offer world-wide experience with the benefit of local knowledge. Fundamentally, our approach is based on sound geo-environmental risk and value management. Potential changes and uncertainty in ground conditions is a major source of cost and programme risk for all civil and structural engineering projects, and the effective management of these risks requires the timely application of expert geo-environmental skills from project inception through planning stages to design, delivery and maintenance.
